Election Day in Flushing, Queens, a multilingual event

On election day, I headed to Flushing, Queens, to cover the final hours of Grace Meng’s campaign for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives. Meng, a councilwoman and the daughter of a councilman, lives in Flushing with her husband, Wayne, and their two sons. Her multilingual campaign materials, as well as the signage providing instructions to voters at local polling sites, provided a strong visual reminder of the cultural diversity of a borough that now claims New York state’s first Asian-American congressional representative.
